07/07/10 AHA! releases sustainability report

Vancouver, WA, July 7, 2010--AHA!, a communications firm that helps some of the world's leading companies tell their sustainability stories, has just released its own corporate social responsibility report. The report was created as part of an ongoing effort to increase AHA!'s sustainability performance and share its progress with clients and industry partners. Stretching the boundaries of traditional reporting, the web-based report details AHA!'s sustainability efforts in an interactive, data-rich narrative.

AHA! has a long history of helping some of the world's most successful companies communicate their leadership in corporate responsibility. Along with work for companies like Autodesk and Starwood Hotels & Resorts, AHA! has helped develop Hewlett-Packard's award-winning global citizenship report for the past three years.

"Companies of all sizes have an environmental and social responsibility story to tell," says AHA! CEO Betsy Henning. "Our goal is to inspire others to make the same commitment to improve their communities and preserve the environment and find creative ways to share their progress along the way."

AHA! identified numerous ways to reduce its impact on the environment, including recycling, composting, eliminating canned soda and bottled water, and setting two-sided printing as the default on company printers. Although it's a small business with fewer than 50 employees, the results were impressive. For example, by biking, walking, taking mass transit and carpooling to work, AHA! employees kept nearly 10 metric tons of CO2 equivalent out of the atmosphere.

AHA! chose an interactive story format to share its accomplishments, seizing the opportunity to rethink how companies report their commitment to sustainability.

"We wanted our first report to be as creative as we are and showcase the kind of strategic, engaging work we can do for our clients," Henning says. "We believe a sustainability report that is informative and also interesting will better connect with a wider audience. Rather than a document that sits on a shelf, it can be something people actually enjoy reading and learning from."
