This July, more than 30,000 country music fans will flock to the small community of Sweet Home, Oregon on the banks of the Santiam River between Salem and Albany. They??ve come in increasing numbers every summer since 1992 when Wynonna Judd headlined at the very first Oregon Jamboree.
During the three-day music and camping festival, the Sweet Home Economic Development Group (SHEDG) will raise a hefty portion of the funds needed to run community projects and programs throughout the other 362 days of the year. Needless to say, a good turnout is vital to the growth and prosperity of the historic logging town. This year, SHEDG called upon Portland-interactive agency COPIOUS to revamp the event??s website to position the festival as the premier attraction it is and woo new ticket buyers.
Social media integration is a prominent new addition to the site. A feed that aggregates recent posts from multiple social networks is present on every page, with additional Flickr and Facebook feeds on the homepage. COPIOUS offers clients social media implementation and consulting services, but in this case it wasn??t necessary ?? SHEDG was already active on Twitter and Facebook.
??We??ve seen first hand how one Facebook promotion can lead to a significant return in revenue and new impressions, so it??s fitting that social media should play such an important role in our new website,? said Oregon Jamboree Festival Director Erin Regrutto.
To COPIOUS, that??s all part of the plan. The agency??s creative process begins with in-depth Research & Discovery phase during which they get to know the client and evaluate their strengths, weaknesses, goals, and competition.
??What makes the social integration successful is that it complements the clients existing marketing strategy,? said COPIOUS Principal and Creative Director Tim Haskins. ??Our goal for each project is to find the solution that??s the best fit for the client and build it.?
Just like the Oregon Jamboree event itself, there??s even more going on behind the scenes. Downloadable vendor and volunteer applications have been replaced with automated forms that save the not-for-profit SHEDG valuable resources by eliminating the need for data entry.
??COPIOUS was great about considering our needs and scope through every step of the process,? said Regrutto. ??The end result is a great looking site that fit our budget and schedule, and exceeds our expectation in terms of functionality.?
