Portland, Ore. — (January 4, 2012) Unitus Community Credit Union’s philosophy of “Invested in You” took on a new meaning this winter, as the credit union called on its members to participate in a website redesign project. The 74-year-old credit union invited members to provide insight and feedback to help guide a redesign of the company’s website. Involving members from this initial stage was vital, because the goal of the project was to improve the members’ online experience. The website redesign was be carried out by the Portland-based interactive agency COPIOUS, which has led similar efforts for several other leading local brands, including NW Natural and McMenamins. “I had the privilege to personally speak with a number of Unitus members and was overwhelmed by the stories of Unitus employees going above and beyond to meet members’ needs,” said COPIOUS CEO and Strategic Director, Patrick Ezell. “Our job was to demonstrate in the website that same personal service that members experience every day at their local branches.” A key component of the new site is a widget designed to help new and current members browse and sort product information to find the right fit for their needs. On the backend, strong site architecture and a content management system (CMS) will facilitate the ongoing organization of site content, even as Unitus’ extensive selection of personal and business products continues to grow. “We’re very excited about this project internally — for what it means for our members and our brand,” said Laurie Kresl, VP of Planning & Business Development for Unitus. “We chose COPIOUS as a partner in part because of the emphasis they put on the user as a part of the web design and development process. Their recognition of the individuality and humanity of each user resonates with the sense of community we value at Unitus.” A group of Unitus members were specifically selected to participate in a user survey, and several also participated as beta users.
